Distemper
This quote was taken from the ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
As a veterinarian who has owned ferrets since the early 90's, and one who has lost a personal ferret to a vaccine reaction, I still vaccinate my own, and still strongly recommend that ALL ferrets receive an adequate kit vaccination series, regardless of their expected risk/exposure level. After that, yes, factor in their exposure risk on a yearly basis and make decisions based on that, or (my preference) establish protection via titer levels.
Things change. Distemper is almost 100% fatal without prior vaccination, and you cannot predict that at some point down the road, your ferrets might not be exposed. All ferrets deserve and need basic protection.
