September 23, 2015:
We picked up Bacon and Bits ashes at Brockport today. I am glad they are home but it is a sad time.
Talk Soon
Eileen, Tom and Dan
September 5, 2015:
Dr. Edwards just called. We lost Bits also.
He and Bacon were such good buddies. I was concerned how Bits would do without her.
September 4, 2015:
Sad News. Dr. Edwards called a little while ago. Bacon didn't make it. It wasn't the B/G. It is some kind of gastrointestinal virus.
Bits is still hanging in there. This nasty virus just came on all of a sudden. One day there were fine and the next they were not. First Bits got it and then Bacon.
August 28, 2015:
Bits went back for a B/G test today. Dr. Edwards was there today. Remember a month ago he had a 215 B/G and Doc wasn't there. Today he had a 423.
Dr. Edwards has taken him off all his meds. Bits goes back in a week for another B/G test. He has been drinking a lot of water this past week. He is wondering if he has gone from insulinoma to diabetic.
Should I give Bits bandits?
Bacon goes back for a belly check at the same time. Her belly seems kind of large.
July 31, 2015:
Questions
How are the kids doing today? I hope there aren't any new ones. Have all in my prayers.
Also Bits went for a B/G test yesterday. The tech said he had a 215. He had 63 a month ago. I don't understand. Do you know why this would be? Dr. Pepper said to keep him on the same meds and do another B/G test in a month. Dr. Edwards is away on vacation and she is taking his place.
Thanks
Eileen
July 2, 2015:
Bits goes in today.
I don't think Dr. Edwards is going to check Bacon's B/G anymore. Bacon is already on a full pill of prednisone daily. Doc said that was as much as she could handle without destroying her stomach.
Have a nice and relaxing 4th of July.
June 10, 2015:
Hi Brenda,
Bacon is doing pretty good. We just take it one day at a time. Bits has been grinding his teeth a little. I gave him carafate today. Do you think you can send them 4 soup ? There is no rush. They still have some.
Thank you for asking about them.
You had a great day for your clinic day. The weather was pretty much perfect. I really appreciated the pictures. Everyone was so happy and having a good time.
Eileen
May 4, 2015:
Hi Brenda,
We stopped giving Bacon her diazoxide yesterday. She still was not eating her soup as of last night. This morning she ate a bowl early. She had her prednisone pill around 8:30 and she ate another bowl. She finished a third bowl around noon.
I hope this continues. I just saw your note. I had an early appt and this is the first time I have gotten on email.
Thank you so much for your help. I hope I won't have to bother you too soon.
Thanks
Eileen
May 4, 2015:
Hi Brenda,
We been giving Bacon carafate. Perhaps we need to give it to her more often. Last night and still this morning she has been refusing her soup.
I realize she is at the end of her life cycle. Should we force feed her or let her decide when she wants to eat?
Also about the meds. Bacon is on 1/2 pill 2x a day of prednisone. She is also on .75 of diazoxide. Are either of these upsetting her stomach ? She hates the diazoxide. I did not try to give it to her. I think I am stressing her out when I try to give it to her. Also how do you get the pred pill in her if she will not drink the soup ? We have been using ferrotone but that is not working so far today.
I am just trying to figure out what to do. I just want her to be as comfortable and as happy as she can be.
Thanks
Eileen
Shelter Response: Oh dear. Okay. I don't here. I would drop the diazoxide - that is probably what is making her not want to eat, that is why I will not use it. I would guess also upsetting her stomach. I crush and put in the 5 ml dropper with just enough soup to get it down them.
Owner Response: When you say you don't here. Do you mean you do not force feed? or you do not let them decide on their own?
Shelter Response: I am sorry I don't force feed...however in your case I would first stop using the diazoxide. That may help her want to eat.. if after a day that has not made a difference then I would no longer force feed. I would offer, but not force. Does that make better sense?
Owner Response: Yes it does.
April 28, 2015:
Hi Brenda,
The soup came. Thank you so much. The kids thank you also.
Question on Bacon
Bacon has been eating her soup pretty good. She was off a little yesterday. However today we are having a problem with her not eating very much. Do you have any suggestions?
Should we let her figure out how much she wants to eat or should we force feed her? I don't think she is grinding her teeth.
Thank You
Eileen
April 9, 2015:
Bacon made it through the surgery ok but the insulinoma is in her liver. Dr. Edwards does not think he made much of a headway.
We are picking her up tomorrow and she will still need to take her meds.I am concerned because her B/G has been very low even with the meds. She did not fast and she had a 36.
Eileen
April 8, 2015:
The soup came. Thank you.
Bacon saw Doc today. She is not responding to the meds. Her B/G keeps going down even with the meds. She had a 36 today.
Bacon is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well.
Stay Dry
Eileen
December 19, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
We took Bacon and Bits for a B/G test. They both had a drop in their B/G Bacon from 49 to 47 and Bits from 68 too 66.
Dr. Edwards has added diazoxide to the pred. It is to come in the mail to us. Once they start the new medicine, Bacon goes to 1/4 pill 2x a day like Bits instead of 3x a day.
I hope you and the fur kids are staying warm. It sure is cold.
Hugs and kisses to the fur kids from us.
Take Care
Eileen
December 19, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
Bacon and Bits went today for another B/G test. Bacon had a 49 and Bits had a 68. They have an appt. in 3 weeks for another B/G test. Bacon went from 41 to 49. Bits went from 116 to 68, I hope you and your fur kids are doing well.
Take Care
Eileen
December 05, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
We took Bacon for another B/G test. Unfortunately, it was still the same.
Dr. Edwards has increased her meds to 1/4 3x a day instead of just 2. She has to go back in 2 weeks for another B/G test. I am planning on taking Bits then also.
Give hugs and kisses to your fur kids.
Take Care
Eileen
November 05, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
We took Bacon and Bits to see Dr. Edwards today. They had physicals, blood work and immunizations.
Bits has cataracts but his blood work was better. He had a 116. Dr. Edwards is leaving Bits on the same dosage of prednisone as he has been on.
Bacon did not do as well for her blood test. She had a 49. Bacon was put on prednisone now also. She will need to go back in December for another blood test. Bits doesn't have to go back for a year.
I hope all is well with you and the fur kids.
Take Care
Eileen
August 01, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
Today Bits went for his 2 week follow up visit for his B/G. Two weeks ago it was 60. Today it was 87. I hope it continues.
He goes back,as does Bacon, in 3 months. They both have an appt. on Wed. Nov 5 for physical and B/G and their immunizations.
I hope your little ones are all doing well.
Eileen
July 18, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
I decided to take Bits today to see Dr. Edwards. I didn't think he had as much energy . He put him on prednisone. After I left there. I got to thinking. Bits has to take prednisone 2x a day. and then be rechecked. I cannot remember as it has been awhile. Should he be given carafate also? If he should, I will have to call Brockport and ask for some.
Thank You
Eileen
July 16, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
I could be wrong . It looks to me like Bits has lost weight. Do you have any thoughts?
Thank You
Eileen
June 21, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
So far so good. We have been watching them. They both seemed to have more normal poops. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
Thank you for being concerned and checking on them. We all appreciate it.
Thank You
Eileen
June 18, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
One of the little guys has had a couple of grayish loose gooey poops. Do you know what would be causing this ? Should I be doing something about it? I am not sure which one it is.
Thank You
Eileen
Shelter Mum's response:
Basically that means food is going through too fast… I would see if you can figure out which of them has the problem. Look them over watch to see if he/she is eating, drinking, If so then give it a day to see if it straightens out . if it does not then it is time to call Doc.
You need to figure that out to look them over, make sure they have sparkle in their eyes. Regents week I am off to work again this morning. 4 runs a day so it will be later before I can get back to you. Brenda
February 26, 2014:
Hi Brenda,
One of the ferrets has been having some real loose poops. One of them was greenish in color. The others are mostly real loose. I am not sure which ferret it is.
Do you know what could be causing this and what should I be doing?
Thank You
Eileen
Shelter Mum's response:
They probably have a cold and it should straighten its self out in the next day but if not you may want to call doc to be sure whoever it is does not get dehydrated. Greenish means it is going through their digestive system too fast. do you have any baby chicken food in the house? I would add some of that to their soup see if that helps.
Eileen's response:
Bacon was doing a bit of coughing last night. If it is her, she has been drinking soup. They both get soup daily in the morning. Last night Tom gave Bacon more soup to help with her coughing. She also had extra soup today.
If it is Bits, he is a little fussy about taking extra soup. He does drink it in the morning with someone holding him. Tom usually does this
I can try adding some baby chicken food.
Thank You
Eileen
August 30, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
I wanted to let you know that Bacon and Bits had their yearly check up and immunizations today with Dr. Edwards. Bits had a B/G of 71 and Bacon had a B/G of 79. Their weights were about the same as they had been. Unless they have a problem, they come back next November.
I hope you and all the furry kids are doing well and staying warm. It sure is cold today.
Take Care,
Eileen
August 30, 2013:
Update #1: Hi Brenda,
We are taking Bits to see Doc later today as he doesn't seem to have a lot of energy.I know he has insulinoma. He had surgery earlier in the year but has been okay until a day or so ago.
Give hugs and kisses to the fur kids for me.
Update #2: We just got back from the seeing Dr. Edwards. Bits had a B/G of 78. He weighed 2lbs 5oz. Doc put Bits on amoxicillin 2x a day. He thinks he may have a cold. He is to take the amoxi for 2 weeks.
Eileen
April 5, 2013:
We took Bacon to have her B/G test and then she saw Dr. Edwards.
After fasting 4 hours, she had a 95 on her B/G test. Dr Edwards examined her and couldn't find anything wrong. She even gained weight.
I wish she could talk.
Eileen
April 4, 2013:
I am watching Bacon. I saw her kind of pancake the other day. I am not sure why. She seemed okay after a little bit but it bothered me.
Bits seems pretty good.
Eileen
March 10, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
The kids are good. They get in to everything. Bacon is a better climber than Bits so she can get into more than he can.
February 22, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
I hope you and the the kids had a good week.
Bacon had her stitches out today, She also had a fasting B/G test. She had a 103.
Bacon is sure happy to be out and about again. Although she and Bits are currently sleeping.
Eileen
February 17, 2013:
Update #1: I did call Brockport this morning. Dr. Edwards wasn't there today. Dr. Pepper said to feed Bacon with a dropper or syringe. I did do that. I just hope she is getting enough to eat. She had been eating lots of soup after she came home from her surgery but she doesn't seem to want it now, I have seen her drinking water but I haven't seen her eat crunchies. She will eat treats.
How much should she be eating ? I should ask how much soup should I be giving her in a syringe and how often? On the positive side her underside where she was opened up looks much better.
Also I did find the dropper you showed in the video. I finally found it at my third pharmacy.
Update #2: Hooray
Tom saw Bacon eating her crunchies this morning and then a little later I saw her eating them. She is taking her meds better also.
February 16, 2013:
I tried to but it isn't letting me play it. I am not sure why but I will still try.
I am wondering if she is depressed because she is in the playpen. Oh I forgot I gave her an nbone and a bandit last night to see if she would eat those and she did. I tried those kind of as a last resort to get her to eat something.
I manage to give her the meds by giving her a little bit of ferretone just before she has the amoxi. I am getting concerned. She has been refusing her soup and I don't think she is eating crunchies. This started yesterday afternoon. I haven't seen her eat crunchies since she came home Tuesday but she was eating lots of soup.
Do you have any ideas on this? I will call Brockport as soon as it opens today.
February 15, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
Bacon absolutely hates her meds especially the amoxi. She is eating quite a bit of soup but I don't think she is eating crunchies.I haven't seen her eat any. We are giving her soup every 2 hours or less.
Her underside had lots of bruising. We all feel bad for her.It looks like the bruising is getting better which is good.
Bits is pretty good. I put him with Bacon after he has been out for awhile and when we are home. He sleeps right with her. They are so cute together.
Bacon seems to be having a rougher time with the surgery than Bits did.
I hope all is well with you and also your the little ones
February 12, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
We just picked up Bacon from Brockport. So far so good. Her stomach has more bruising than Bits had.
She goes back on Friday Feb. 22nd for a B/G test and suture removal.
Eileen
February 11, 2013:
AM: I don't know what time the surgery is.
I am supposed to bring her in at 8:45 and let them know when she ate last. Originally I was told to fast her for 4 hours but I said I didn't think that sounded quite right. They checked with Dr. Edwards and he said not to fast her 4 hours. I am planning on leaving with her around 8:00 or so depending on the weather. Perhaps I should let her eat until 7:00 or so.
What do you think?
Eileen
PM: Bacon had her surgery this morning.
I just checked on her. So far she is doing good.
Eileen
PM: Hi Brenda,
I just got off the phone with Dr. Edwards. He called to tell me Bacon was acting like a wild woman. She pulled something and he had to put her under anesthesia again and fix it. I think he said it was a ligature ( not sure of the spelling). Have you ever had one of your ferrets do that?
I hope she will be okay.
Eileen
February 10, 2013:
Bits is doing pretty good.
Yes Bacon goes in tomorrow for surgery. I hope she does okay. She is a tiny little thing but also feisty.
Bacon has a drop off time at 8:45.
I think it would be a good idea to get 2 more soup. We have gone through quite a bit of soup with Bits and we gave soup to Bacon also.We still have some so when you have a chance. I know you are busy.
Thank You,
Eileen
February 7, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
We took Bacon and Bits for their B/G test today. Bits had an 83 . Bacon had a 58. Dr. Edwards said she should have surgery. She is scheduled this coming Monday for surgery. I was wondering about Bacon. She runs around like crazy. However I have noticed recently she seems to be dragging at different times.
I hope you and the kids are staying healthy.
Eileen
February 4, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
We took Bits to Brockport today.
The tech checked the redness around his stitches. She took them out. Bits has to stay on his meds for a couple of more days. He is happy he can now run around with Bacon.
He and Bacon go back Thursday for a B/G test.
Eileen
February 2, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
Bits has an appointment for his stitches to be removed on this coming Wednesday. He is still on his meds. Carafate and Amoxi 2x a day. Yesterday afternoon Dan noticed Bits licking his stitches. It was a little red and it had spread more this morning. It is not real red but it is red. I will call Brockport Monday morning. Is there anything I should do for him in the meantime? Thank You
Eileen
Answer from Shelter Mum:
Are the stitches still in tact? Licking is not a bad thing it will soften the scabs and make help when the stitches are pulled it will not hurt but the red concerns me, is the area hot to the touch?
I would put some antibiotic cream on the area if there is infection starting then that will help. Keep me posted. - Brenda
January 28, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
He is doing pretty good. He is eating soup and crunchies. He had his meds about an hour ago.
He sleeps a lot but he must be feeling a little better. This morning he was trying to dig his way out of the playpen.
How is Frenchie? I bet she is happy she no longer has that lump on her tail.
Eileen
January 26, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
How is Frenchie doing?
Bits is pretty good. He has been eating soup and his crunchies.
He is currently sleeping with Bacon in the playpen
Eileen
January 25, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
The soup came. Thank you very much.
Did you get Frenchie to the hospital okay ? Was she okay for surgery
?We got Bits there just before 11:00. The driving wasn't very good and there was something wrong on 390 South. We ran into a major traffic backup but I managed to get off at Lexington and go the long way. I was glad I left as early as I did or we would have been late.
Bits has to stay overnight. Does Frenchie?
I am to call around 6 tonight to see how he is doing and then tomorrow at 9 to see what time he can go home.
Take Care
Eileen
January 21, 2013:
Hi Brenda,
We just got back from taking Bits for a B/G test. His B/G was in the 50's either 52 or 59 after about a 4 hour fast. . He is scheduled for surgery on Thursday. In November, his B/G test was 69.
Have you had any of your ferrets have surgery for insulinoma? We have not. We have only had adrenal gland surgery. If you have, how did they make out? From what I understand, Bits is young enough for surgery.
Have any thoughts on this?
Eileen
January 20, 2013:
Update 1: Hi Brenda,
Bits threw up a couple of times a a little while ago. Some foamy stuff and some brownish liquid. He had had soup about a half to an hour before this. He also had some of his crunchies. I am not sure if his stomach is sick or he had crunchies that got stuck. He had me worried as he didn't look so good. He seemed a little limp. He seems better now.
Do you have any suggestions?
Eileen
Update 2: I gave Bits some more soup. He ate about 1/4 of it. He didn't want any more. I can try again later. He seems better. I hope he stays that way. He is scheduled for a B/G test on Feb. 15th. Dr. Edwards had me schedule it when Bits and Bacon were there in November for their vaccinations and check ups.
Update 3: I was wondering about that myself. I will call tomorrow and see if I can get him in.
I have to take Tom to the Dr. tomorrow morning at 8:00 Am. I will call when I get back from his appt.I would like to have both ferrets B/G tested but will call for Bits first. Do you know if Dr Edwards is there this week or is he away ? I thought he took vacation in the winter time.
December 4, 2012:
Hi Brenda,
I hope you and all the kids are doing well. Bits and Bacon are busy getting into things. I have been busy taking everyone to appointments. This week is especially busy.
Eileen
November 15, 2012:
Hi Brenda,
We took Bacon and Bits for their annual check up. Bits weighs 2lbs and 10 oz. and Bacon weighs 1lb 11 oz.. They had B/G test done also Bacon's was okay at 82 but Bits was borderline at 69.
Bits has to go back in 3 months for another B/G test. I have noticed Bits hasn't been quite as active as he had been.
I hope all is going well with you and the kids. I have been quite busy taking Tom and Dan to their appointments as well as the animal family members.
Thank You and Take Care
Eileen
Shelter Mum's Response:
Good weights. 69 is concerning – are you supplementing them with soup? if not that would be a good idea to start – the soup will help keep that 69 from getting lower for a few months yeah he is feeling crappy –soup will help make him feel better.
I hope they are well visits not sick visits – it has been crazy around here.
Brenda
Eileen's Response:
Thank You. Yes we are giving them both soup. With the colder weather they both seem to sleep more. Bacon hasn't slowed down. She is still into everything.
Eileen
February 18, 2012:
Hi Brenda, I hope you and the little ones are all well. Bits and Bacon are currently sleeping. It is a rather dreary day. At least it isn't snowing.
Thank You
Eileen
February 1, 2012:
I hope all is well with you and the fuzzies. Bits and Bacon do no like to get up too early this time of year. They are so funny.Tom got them up too early on Sunday. At least they thought so and they went right back to theii cage and went back to sleep. I was surprised but I don't blame them.
Eileen
April 5, 2011:
Hi meant to ask you. Bits has become rather aggressive with Bacon. I noticed this about 1-2 weeks. This morning I caught him dragging Bacon by the neck across the floor and she was making a low sound.
Why do you think he is doing this ?
Thank You
Eileen
April 3, 2011:
Hi Brenda, I just thought I would let you know the kids are doing pretty good. They are such angels when they sleep but such mischief makers when they are awake. I think Bacon is the leader in getting into things. If she wants to do something she seems to find a way and she can fly.
We still hope to come see you and look at a cage for the kids. I am assuming you still have some.
I think we will wait a little longer until the weather gets a bit warmer. It has been a rather long winter.
I hope you and the kids are doing well. Give the little ones hugs and kisses for me.
Thank You and Take Care
Eileen
February 6, 2011:
We should be able to wait until spring for another cage.
The Purina kitten food that I give the ferrets comes in a bag also but I thought it said pro plan but maybe it said purina one. I don't need any totally ferret food yet but I am glad you are carrying it so I can order it from you when I need it.
It is good to have Gravy back. I was meeting some former coworkers this morning and Bacon did not want me to leave she was crawling up my leg and then when I sat down to put my boots on she crawled up my back. Needless to say it took longer to get ready.
I hope your weather gets better. It has been snowing here quite hard but no sleet yet.
Take Care
Eileen
November 25, 2010:
Good Morning Brenda,
Our house wants to wish you and the fur kids a peaceful and thankful Thanksgiving also. I hope all are healthy and doing well.
Bacon and Bits saw Dr. Edwards last Friday for their physicals and immunizations. They were good. Bacon reminds me a little of Genny and a little of Gravy. She follows me around like Genny did and she can jump and fly like Gravy could. Bits is more like Biscuit real cuddly and of course cute.
Please give hugs and kisses to all the fur kids.
Take Care and God Bless.
Eileen
October 29, 2010:
Yes we are enjoying the fur kids. Up until yesterday they were returning to their cage to nap but not any longer. They have been finding other places to nap. We do put them in their cage to sleep at night for their own safety.
Eileen
October 28, 2010:
Hi Brenda, The kids are good. Bacon reminds me a lot of Genny. She likes to be held and hugged. Bits reminds me of Isaac. Bacon is small so she can get into more places.
I just made them appointments with Dr. Edwards for their physicals. They go in November on the 19th.
I hope all is well with you and the kids.
Eileen
Shelter mums note:
These kids were current on vaccines when they left on October 23, 2010 – they are due for check up and shots in November 2010.
October 24, 2010 - Evening email:
The little guys are cute. When they get tired they go back in their cage to sleep. In fact that is where they are now.
Please give hugs and kisses to all for us.
Eileen
Bacon and Bits are doing pretty good. They have been exploring. We forgot what it was like to have young ferrets. We had to remove all the plants. Our previous ferrets never bothered them but these guys seemed obsessed by them so we moved them. They are cute. Bacon doesn't seem to fear much and is a climber. We did discover she is afraid to go back down the stairs so she got carried back down.
They explored yesterday and are back at it this morning. Update to yesterday, Bacon can now come down the stairs by herself. Bacon reminds me of Genny. She is small like Genny and can climb better than Bits.
I hope we didn't stay too long yesterday so you are behind today. I know how hard it is to get things done with working and everything.
Thank You for letting us come down yesterday and bring the kids back with us. I will let you know how they did today. So far they are looking at everything they can. Eileen, Tom and Dan
October 23, 2010 - Found a Forever Home:
Yes we are planning on coming.
Yes we would like to see if any would like to live with us to come home with us. Eileen
October 22, 2010:
Hi Brenda, We were thinking of coming down tomorrow for a visit if this is okay? I will not know for sure until tomorrow morning. If we come down should I get your meds from the hospital or did you already make other arrangements?
We went to pick up Biscuit's ashes today. It was rather sad.
I will let you know in the morning one way or the other if we are able to come down.
I hope you and the kids are all well.
Take Care Eileen
November 2, 2009, Initial contact:
Hi there-
I really don't want to be e-mailing you this and honestly never thought I would. I have 2 ferrets, Bacon and Bits that I was wondering if you could help me with. I am going to be loosing my house very soon and I am trying to do what is best for my animals. I would like to know if you could take them and help them find a forever, loving home. I don't trust any of the ads I have seen for people who are interested in ferrets, and your name was given to me as someone who might be able to help. I currently live in Greece and have no problem driving out to you. I just want what is best for them. They are absolute loves!!! I would appreciate if they could stay together. Bacon is an almost 2 yr old female and Bits is a 1 yr old male. They are not blood related, but they LOVE each other
to pieces. I'm sorry that I am kind of rambling, but I want to give you as much info as possible, but would also love to be able to talk to you as well. You can call me anytime (I only have a cell phone) Or if e-mailing is better for you, that’s not a problem, I can always try to get to a computer. Thank you for your time and I hope to be talking to you soon. Take care.
-Nina:)
November 4, 2009, Nina:
Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. Unfortunately, I only have the internet at work, so I am sorry in my delayed response.
The woman who referred me to you was Sue. (I'm sorry I don't have a last name.) I have no problem bringing all of their belongings, actually that makes me feel so much better since it is already going to be a huge change for them. Having some things familiar to them, I'm sure will put them a little more at ease. I feed them Marshall's (just fill up one dish in the AM and they share). My ex and I are the only owners they have known (we got them both when they were babies). We got Bacon first, from a pet store in Greece and a couple months later we got Bits, from a different pet store in Greece. They have been part of my family for about a year. Neither of them have had vaccines (I'm sorry). If I could bring them to you within the next week, it would be greatly appreciated. However,
if you need more time, I can work something out. Sorry to cut this short, but like I said I'm at work :( But thank you again from the bottom of my heart. This is extremely hard, but the thought of them going to a wonderful home TOGETHER, is helping make this more bearable.
November 4, 2009, Brenda:
They are going to need to be vaccinated before they come here. I do not charge a surrender fee but they are required to be vaccinated with documentation I consider that as the surrender fee. Brenda
November 9, 2009, Nina:
I just want to make sure that they have everything they need before I get in touch with you again. I called the vet and they informed me that the office visit would be $41 and that the shot is $9. Do they only need 1 shot each? What exactly do they need before they can come to you? Trying to make this as easy as a transition as possible. Sorry for the confusion on my end. Thanks again for your help!

Hi Brenda~
I just wanted to let you know that they did get Bacon and Bits in to see Dr. Edwards a week from today (Wed. the 18th at 2pm). The girl I spoke with didn't know anything about special prices or anything cuz I am surrendering them. But that’s ok cuz I know that this is what they need and that you will give them a wonderful home. Do you think I could bring them to you that evening (Wed.), or over the weekend (the 21st or 22nd)? Thank you again so much for all of your help. I truly appreciate knowing that they are going to be taken care of and loved.

There are no special prices; the shelter pays the same as you will and anyone else does when they go in. Please make sure you bring the documentation because if you do not have it they will not be able to stay. That is the most important thing that has to come with them okay? What do you consider evening? Why not shoot right from Brockport to Naples ; it is a quick shot coming from there. Let me know what you mean by evening because I am in bed by 6:30 PM.

I can easily do that, that shouldn't be a problem. I can come to your place straight from Brockport. So if their appt. is at 2pm I can probably be to your place by 3 or 330pm at the latest. Let me know if this is ok. Thanks again. Nina

I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for not only taking my babies, but for caring for all of your wonderful babies as well. What you do is simply amazing and I am so grateful there are people like you in this world. I am sorry that I was so late (because I am an idiot with directions), but thank you for still taking the time to talk to me and show me around. I understand and out side of being frustrated because I did not know what was going on; I lived though it and you were not hurt so I am happy it all worked out. As much as it hurts not having them with me, I know they are getting the best care possible. I have cried (a lot) and imagine I will for awhile, but I find comfort in knowing they are in such a wonderful place.
Did they do ok their first night? How are they doing now? I realize you are extremely busy, so I understand if you don't get back to me. Can you just please tell them I love them and haven't stopped thinking about them. I will definitely be in touch, and maybe even come visit sometime. And I have already given my family your information so they can start donating.
I truly just can't thank you enough. Take care and I will hopefully be talking to you soon.

Hi, I was going to contact you but decided to wait to see if you reached out to me first. Ferrets are my love, my life and my passion. I can think of nothing else I would rather do! Thank you for the faith you have in me.
They did, here is a picture of them in the sleep box the following morning. They are adjusting, not yet sure about things but they get to hang out with me up in my space first thing in the morning so they are learning the routine.
Never to busy to answer a broken heart and nervous mom, you are a far stronger person than I.
Drop me a line when ever you want to hear about the kids, I have no problem keeping you up on what is going on. They will be on the site as soon as I can get a few minutes to pull it together. If you think you would like to sponsor them you can.
Thanks for checking on them. Brenda
