August 21, 2024:
I have been giving Henry soup every night when I get home before his treats. Tonight was the first time I put the dish down. I will continue to do that for a while before cutting back to a few times/week.
August 18, 2024:
After church I gave him and didn't use dropper...started w/him taking from spoon. I then put in saucer and held him/it and he ate...had to keep adding a litter water cuz when it got to just the mush he slowed. He didn't eat all the mush but he ate very well...he had a messy face VBG.
Shelter Response: Our kids don't like the mush/sludge either.I'm so pleased, thank you! Give him time he will use your shoulder to wipe his face clean.
August 17, 2024:
This morning was day 3 for soup. Last night/this morning he didn't fight but hesitant to take from dish; however, this morning he took off spoon. I will continue. Once I am through with what you gave me, I just blend regular food mixture, correct? I am going to get coffee bean grinder---I had one in Springwater but I must have gotten rid of it (think I gave to my sister). Also, he continues to make me smile as he plays with toys he has either never paid attention to or hasn't touched in a very long time...VBG.
Shelter Response: Good job! when you say dish do you mean a flat dish? If not try using a saucer. Correct. When he starts eating soup on his own, you can blend 2 cups of his food into a powder, then keep it in the freezer, use as needed. Whatever you do don't stop giving him soup once he likes it or you will end up back at square 1. offer soup every other day or so to keep him interested in it. He is such a special boy.
February 26, 2024:
Well, Henry likes his new slipper. This is our morning ritual/game:
Before I put him in with his ferretone, I say "Momma's gotta go to work; you be a good boy; I love you." I give him a kiss and say "ready?" as I put him in his cage.
After he licks it all, he goes under the papers and does what he does...lol. Before I leave (usually within 5 minutes), I open his cage, take him out from under the papers and put him in his slipper while I fix the papers. He usually immediately curls up, adjusts the blanket inside it, or keeps his head up to watch me. Then as I walk by to leave I say "I'll see you later Henry, I love you." He then curls up. Of course he is somewhere else when I get home but I'd say he likes his new slipper!

He's lovin' life....I'll wake up in the middle of night and he's curled up next to me...luv him to pieces.

Henry is awesome! He's my alarm clock in the morning...get up on the bed to see if I'm awake. If I don't pay him any attention, he goes under the comforter between that and blanket and snuggles up to me feet and goes to sleep. He's my baby :)

I've been meaning to write you to let you know what a sweet boy Henry is--like you didn't know already..wink, wink. He comes up on the bed around the time my alarm is to go off to "wake" me up. I tell him, using the same phrase(s) if not time to get up and he has gotten so he'll go to the bottom of bed and either curl up and go back to sleep or I feel him taking a "bath." Sometimes I have to put him on the floor, he will get back on bed, I will put him down, he will get back on bed...he eventually will go off just to come back in time to tell me again it is time to get up again. He is my little alarm clock and I love him to pieces!
July 27, 2021:
Henry is great! He is handling being out all night very well except for when he wants to play anywhere between 3:30 - 4:40 am....lol...he gets on bed and wants to play or he starts licking me and then nips be, so down he goes...this morning I put him down about 6 or so times...lol, but I don't mind. Once he gets a little older I'm hoping he will come up on bed and sleep. He's a good boy and loves that cereal!!!!!! Dances in circles by dish until I put some in....lol
