July 4, 2018:
AM: Sasha is more responsive this morning but she has no use of her hind end. I'm not sure what that is about. Her back legs and feet are cold meaning she has no blood flow going to them. She gives me no resistance when I put my hand on the bottom of her feet and gently push upward. I am debating on what to do.
I am going to try to feed her soup but I'm thinking if she has no use of her hind end she may have no way to pee and poo. There is no poo or pee in the pen this morning. I had to bath her last night before putting her in there because she was poo messy. But not poo messy this morning. I can do a Dex, if there is some inflammation on the lower spin that could help lessen the inflammation. Not sure what I am going to do with her.<
PM: Sasha is gone.
July 3, 2018:
I have moved Sasha up to the sick pen, I hope temporally. I did a BG on her this afternoon, the meter read 25. No wonder the little girl has not been feeling well. I will put her on meds 3 times a day.
I brought her up here to keep a closer eye on her.
June 27, 2018:
Sasha is looking much better she had her face in the soup bowl before I closed the door of her cage. I fed her, her meds by dropper just in case.
June 26, 2018:
Sasha - when I went in to get her up this morning, she did not eat her bowl of soup last night, she got her meds by dropper again this morning. Her poo looks okay but she looks miserable. You can tell she is not feeling well
June 25, 2018:
AM: Sasha has not eaten her soup yesterday morning or last night. Generally she gets up to eat her soup as soon as I put I in her cage. This morning I found last night's soup untouched. This morning she got her meds by dropper. I think I have something going through the shelter.
PM: Sasha - When I opened the cage to set soup on her shelf she jumped out of her hammock and headed towards her soup bowl, I fed her, her meds by dropper then let her eat what she wanted of the soup on her own.
October 16, 2017:
AM: Rasha is still with us this morning, last night she was better enough that she took her meds and had a dish of soup. This morning not so much. She is with us but I expect not for much longer. Sasha II wants up and out so I am putting her into the early morning rotation.
PM: Rasha is gone. I left Sasha II in the pen with her so she would know she was gone. Before shutting the shelter down I put Sasha II back in her cage.
October 15, 2017:
Tic and old Sasha are doing better this morning. Rasha is not, I did give her a Dex shot this morning but I believe she is shutting down. Her sissy wanted out of the pen this morning so I let her out, cleaned up Rasha and set her back into the pen.
October 14, 2017:
I found Rasha in a crash with icky sticky poo. I gave her, her meds by dropper before I realized she was in trouble, I cleaned her up, I gave her Carafate.
September 26, 2017:
Sasha and Rasha are doing much better and eating all of their soup now they are on meds.
September 24, 2017:
Sasha and Rasha have been off for 2 days - neither of them wanted soup this morning so I decided I would check their BG at 9:30 this morning.
Sasha was 30 Rasha registered Low. I gave them both a Dex shot put them in the playpen to keep an eye on them. When I put them in their cage a noon they were responsive and moving around much better, they ate the soup I offered them tonight.
September 14, 2017:
AM: Today, I will get ready for the new girls coming in late this afternoon, I will start them with soup, if they are stable on just soup, if not, I will do a BG to see where they are - their medical records state they took BG and their numbers were 36 and 35 respectively. They do not have them on meds.. I don't like to hurt them (take blood) when they first come in. sometimes I don't have a choice.
PM: The girls are here. Pete got here a few minutes before 4. They do not look bad at all. They are tiny but their coats are in good shape. The DEW is showing signs of Adrenal disease but that could be from a poor diet too. They are spending the night in the playpen. I have no idea if they got any out time where they were.
I offered them soup, the sable girl dove into the bowl, the DEW ate what I offered off the dropper but did not want to eat it out of the bowl. It was getting late, I did not go get a shallow dish - I will see if she eats soup on her own from a shallow dish in the morning.
September 14, 2017:
Pete is going to get the girls from SPCA - he is picking them up at 2 on Thursday - they are fully vetted for rabies and distemper with documentation. We have the documentation now Doug emailed them in PDF form. Their names are Sasha and Rasha.
Initial Contact, September 6, 2017:
We got a call from Tompkins County SPCA last night, they have 2 ferrets. Megan wanted to know if we could take them. I told her we would. Megan, said she needed to take our answer to the powers that be.
